County Council Recognizes Anniversary
Of SLCo Nondiscrimination Ordinance
Salt Lake County’s Nondiscrimination Ordinance celebrates its 20th Anniversary this month. On September 30, 1992, County Commission Chair Jim Bradley and Commissioner Randy Horiuchi approved Ordinance 1212 prohibiting discrimination in government services and government employment based on age, marital status, color, national origin, sexual orientation, race or religion.
At the time it was the first nondiscrimination ordinance approved by a local government in the State of Utah.
Mayor Peter Corroon and the County Council will formally adopt the resolution honoring the 20th anniversary at their meeting today.
