Governor Will Throw Out First Pitch Saturday At Babe Ruth World Series in Murray.

Governor Gary Herbert will throw out the first pitch Saturday afternoon on opening day of the Babe Ruth Baseball 14-year old World Series in Murray. Teams representing all regions of the nation will play in the ten team tournament.

The tournament begins Saturday, August 18 and ends Saturday, August 25 with the championship game at Murray’s Ken Price Park. Games begin Saturday at 10 a.m. as Westchester (CA) meets Southbury (CT). The Governor will throw out the first pitch at 3 p.m. prior to the first round game between Jacksonville (FL) and Utah State Champ Vernal. Opening ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m. prior to the Mountain Home (AR) – Murray match up at 7 p.m.

This is the second time the Babe Ruth World Series to be hosted by Murray City. In 2009 Murray held the series to a crowd of more than 50,000 over the course of the event.
