Holds Auditions for Tenors and Basses
The Utah Symphony Chorus and Utah Opera Chorus will be holding open auditions for tenors and basses for the 2012-2013 season September 5 and September 6, 2012. Both choruses are directed by Utah Symphony | Utah Opera Chorus Master Susanne Sheston.The Utah Symphony Chorus is an acclaimed volunteer chorus that performs symphonic choral repertoire with the Utah Symphony, led by Music Director Thierry Fischer and outstanding guest conductors. The repertoire for 2012-2013 includes Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang, Handel’s Messiah, and Schoenberg’s Peace on Earth, as well as pops programming. The audition for the Utah Symphony Chorus consists of vocalizing, sight-reading, and singing My Country Tis of Thee.
Members of the Utah Opera Chorus have the opportunity to work with nationally- and internationally-acclaimed conductors, stage directors and principal artists in Utah Opera’s upcoming productions of Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Catan’s Florencia en el Amazonas, Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. Applicants should be trained singers living in Utah with significant stage experience. They must have one aria or art song prepared (4 minutes or less) and will be asked to sight-sing.
